I'm exhausted. Somehow having to listen to people play the same set of songs 10 times over a few hours has a very draining effect. I think it's nice to see people having the guts to step forward and volunteer to serve in the ministry. But God also shapes and gifts each of us differently, so sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where we realise our gifts just aren't that suited for a ministry we're interested in.

I'm just glad I don't have to be at the interviews on Saturday when we let these passionate people know the results of their auditions. Bearing good news is ok. Having to share bad news is another story. It's really one of the hardest duties of a leader in the worship ministry to tell somebody that he/she isn't suited to serve in what they auditioned for, but I guess it's really good for both the ministry and the person in question in the long run. Serving in a place God hasn't called you and shaped you to serve in just leads to frustration and failure. Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.

So. Sometimes the gifts people give you speak alot about what they think of you. Like, I've received tees (really nice tees) with phrases on them that, in the words of the givers, suit my personality. I've got this "Rules Don't Apply To Me" tee that Cindy and Allan gave me and this tee with a really long phrase about not pleasing people that Amanda got for me, specially flown in from down under (shame on you those who thought it meant something obscene).

Oh and I've got loads of books to read. Think my QT material for the rest of the year is covered nicely.

Eyes heavy. Legs weary. I think we should always conduct mass warmups before each session of worship. My calves feel like they're about to cramp. Maybe being 22 (Yes I'm 22. My birthday ain't over yet.) is when you start feeling the effects of old age.

I've got an interview in church tommorrow night. I think it's kinda intimidating to be interviewed by 6 members of the church leadership. The fact that they know me rather well serves as a double edged sword since knowing me as a person will probably make it easier for them to understand why I'm applying to take up the role. It also means that they'll have fodder aplenty if they decide to play devil's advocate. And I'm still kicking myself for some stuff I wrote on the application form. "Because Pastor asked me to"? What was I thinking???

Anyway. Eyes heavy.

Oh and Cheok broke a tom skin today. Yet another casualty to our drum kit. We need better skins that can handle our drummers' passion! I'm wondering if our equipment can actually last till the new building is complete. Apart from the 2 cymbals we bought last year, all our drum kits in church have been around longer than I've been serving, and that's not the end of it - we've got a spoilt bass amp (Pity. It was a really nice, huge bass amp. It's probably just fried connectors though.), a spoilt electric amp (though that's more of a joint comm problem now) and from what I hear, a spoilt main monitor above the drums. And have you looked up while in the Worship Hall recently? It's almost as if the sky is really falling. Though I suppose done properly we could convert the image of the Worship Hall into one with a very "broken down garage" (for lack of a better phrase) kinda look. Great for the Youth Service, probably not as good an idea for the 11am one.

Eyes still heavy.
